The city as a whole is the combination of seven different islands which were filled and connected by roads and rails. Marine Drive

A 3.6km long avenue in the city of Mumbai, Marine Drive is a C shaped road along the sea coast ranging from Nariman point to Chowpatty beach. Also known as the Queen’s Necklace, the Marine Drive displays an elegant view at night with all the street lights burning and showcasing a necklace shaped road. It is popular at night as you can lie back on the marine drive or take a long walk after dinner and enjoy the view and spend some quality time with your near and dear ones. It cannot happen that you go to Mumbai and not visit Marine Drive. It is a must visit place for everyone who visit Mumbai.

Gateway of India
Constructed in the 20th century with a height reaching 26m, built in yellow basalt rock, the Gateway of India is a historic monument with a speck of Muslim Architecture fashioned with intricate latticework. It was built to allow the entry in India via sea. Situated at the Apollo Bundar in South Mumbai it is one of the most visited places in Mumbai due to the grandeur of the monument. There are steps that lead to the Arabian Sea from the Gateway. It is also known as the Taj Mahal of Mumbai due to its elegance as of the Taj itself. There are no specific visiting hours and you can visit this place any time of the day. November to March is the best season to visit Mumbai as it doesn’t rain and the climate is pleasant enough to enjoy a tour of the city.

Juhu Beach

Juhu, a home to a number of celebrities also houses a beautiful beach that envelops the Arabian Sea. Also famous for its local food and stalls all around the place the foodies should pay a visit to this beach to relish the delicious food like Pani Puri, Pav bhaji and much more. And as all other beaches you can sit here, relax and watch the sun go down into the sea. The kids enjoy the beach as they can build sand castles and play in the waters and enjoy the open space that is not found at home. The best time to visit a beach is always from October to February as it rains heavily in the rainy season. You can reach Juhu by metro or public road transport. Santacruz, Andheri and Vile Parle being the nearest railway stations to this beach you can travel by local to reach here.
CST to Juhu Beach via Eastern Hwy - 32.6 km, a 1 h 3 min drive (approx.). taking a local from CST to Vile Parle is advisable as it’s hardly 3km from Vile Parle station.
Airport to Juhu Beach via Juhu Rd/Juhu Tara Rd - 5.7 km, a 23 min drive (approx.) you can take a taxi from the airport to this beach.

Haji Ali Dargah

Constuucted in 1431, a famous mosque with a beautiful history that is an important landmark of the city, built in the indo-Islamic style of architecture; this mosque preserves the tomb of Sayed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. People of all castes, creeds and religions visit this tomb to seek blessings of the saint and to take a look at the beauty and elegance of the mosque built in white marble. The dargah is visited by about 10 to 15 thousand people on a daily basis. So now you can imagine how famous it is and how important it is to visit this place.

EsselWorld and Water Kingdom

EsselWorld, an amusement park located in Gorai, stretched over a land of 64acres houses 14 family rides, 11 adrenaline-pumping thrill rides and 15 children's rides. Saturdays and Sundays are crowded so if you go on a weekday you can enjoy more. Swimming suits are mandatory for everyone and if you do not own one you can rent it from the park with charges applied. You get lockers to keep your belongings and everything. The restaurants in the park are exclusive of the ticket price.

·         Apply a 40SPF or more than 40SPF sun screen to avoid blackening of skin due to chlorinated water.
·         Leave your valuable belongings like gold rings, necklaces, earrings, bangles, bracelets etc. at home for your safety purposes.

Elephanta Caves

Elephant Caves with its rock cut architecture in basalt rock, situated on Elephanta Island, 11km east of Apollo Bundar (Harbour) are a arrangement of beautifully sculpted caves. The caves are said to be existind from the late 5th to late 8th century AD. The main cave (Shiva cave) 27sqm with a 4 door entrance and the cave axis aligned north south which is uncommon for a shiva temple. As it is carved in stone the caves are pleasant on a sunny day where you can sit in the solitude of the surroundings and breathe easy.

The cave is closed on Monday.

Bandra Worli Sea Link

An amalgamation of man-made structure and the beautiful sea, Bandra Worli Sea Link is an 8 lane bridge portraying the modern architecture. As it lights up in the evening, the sight of this sea link is splendid and amazing. One cannot miss the picturesque view of the sun setting at the horizon seen between the cables that hold the bridge. The building of this bridge has cut out the time from 45 to 60 mins to 8 to 10 mins from Worli to Bandra and vice versa. Enjoy a few selfies while your drive on this bridge.

Airport to Bandra Worli Sea Link via Western Express Hwy and Bandra - Worli Sea Link – takes 26 mins to cover a distance of 14.4 km
So this is as they call “Amchi Mumbai”. At least once in a lifetime visit to the financial capital of the country should be in the bucket list of all the people.

 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya  (Prince of Wales Museum)

Situated in the heart of south Mumbai in the Victoria garden, near the Gateway of India built in the early 20th century,  Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya alias Prince of Wales Museum showcases a beautiful combination of Mughal, Maratha and Jain architecture. The vicinity of this museum is contains beautiful flower beds and palm trees that enhance the beauty of the palace like museum. The museum holds 50,000 objects from the history including some foreign objects, artefacts from the Indus valley civilization, the heirlooms of the Guptas, Mauryas, Chalukyas and the Rashtrakutas and all these are categorized in 3 zones; Art, Archaeology and Natural History. Built on a land of 3 acres in Western Indian and Indo-Saracenic style of architecture with the construction in Kurla Basalt rock and buff coloured trachyte Malad stone, the building raises up to 3 storeys, the amalgamation of Islamic dome, column, railings and balcony of Maratha wada and Jain style columns gives an altogether different view to the museum. So yes, the history, art and architecture lovers do visit this palace as it is worth it.

Hanging Garden

Also known as Abhinav Garden, situated on the top of Malabar Hills, opposite of the Kamla Nehru Park, the Hanging garden caters the sunset glimpse over the salty waters and is a place for you to relax and lose yourself in the beauty of the surroundings. The garden also features animal shaped shrubs and has a view to enjoy. The well maintained pathways are jogged upon and the garden is pleasurable for a morning walk. A picturesque place where you can hold a beautiful photo-shoot along the water fountains with a background of the sun going down is something everyone loves. The park is a nice place for the kids to play as they can enjoy some swings, sea saw and slides. Mornings and evenings are advisable to visit this park as it is not too sunny at this time. Afternoons are sunny and the humidity and the sun altogether become uncomfortable.

Kamla Nehru Park

Named after the wife of Jawaharlal Nehru, famous for the old woman’s shoe and the verdant greenery all around, Kamla Nehru Park is situated on Malabar hills in Mumbai. When you look down from this garden you can see the Chowpatty Beach and the beautifully C shaped Marine Drive. The park is popular amongst children as they can run around and play without any worries. Built on an area of 4000 sq.ft.  It gives a beautiful view of the city, especially in the evening when the city is lit up.

Siddhivinayak Temple

Built in the year 1801, dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Ganesha, Siddhivinayak Temple is one of the richest temples in the city. Also known as Navsacha Ganpati, you can visit this temple and pray with all your heart for your wishes to come true. VIPs and Bollywood celebrities regularly visit this temple to seek blessings of Lord Ganesha. The grandeur of the structure is worth a sight. You can follow the timings given below to get a site of any one or all the Aartis that take place and you will see how beautifully decorated the deity is.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park

Being one of the most visited parks in the world (2million people annually) Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a must visit for all the people travelling to Mumbai. The rich flora and fauna of this park with 1000 plant species, 251 species of migratory birds, 50,000 species of insects and 40 species of mammals 38 species of reptiles, 9 species of amphibians, 150 species of butterflies and a large variety of fish makes it more appealing and it is worth the visit. A mini toy train that covers a distance of 2.5km with a seating capacity of 20 to 25 people is also one of the reasons for you to visit this park. Photography is allowed in this park but you have to pay 50/- to take your cameras inside the park. You can travel by the local and get down at Thane railway station as it is near this park.

Kanheri Caves
Another one of the rock cut caves patterned from basalt rock, and located in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, 2400 year old Kanheri Caves contain Buddhist sculptures, paintings and Inscriptions which date from the 1st century to 10th century. You have to climb steps carved in rock to reach these caves. Constituting of 109 caves in all you can see the rich ancient architecture and skilful engineering of the caves. The caves are of utmost importance for the Buddhists.

Chor Bazaar

Visiting Mumbai and leaving without shopping is not going to happen. Of course we all are in search for good quality but not too expensive things to buy and Chor Bazaar (meaning Thief’s Market) is not going to disappoint you. Famous for second hand goods and antique items this flee market is worth a visit. You will practically find anything and everything in this market. An old legent about this market says that if you lose any of your valuable belongings in Mumbai you will find it in Chor bazaar. To get here by rail get down at the Grant road Railway station.

Jadhav Wadi Dam - Talegaon

Greetings... Jadhav wadi dam is situated after crossing the Navlakh Umbre hill station? Actually there is nothing to see there near dam, but it is useful for those who need " Ekant", cool, calm place  & enjoy with group of  friends means party. The road up to the dam from main road is rough. As I was on 2 wheeler , I managed to go upto the destination, for car its difficult. But anyway it is a short cut to Talegaon from Bhama askhed.
